Up for brekkie organised by David's dad. Had bacon and egg in bun; very nice.
Walked down to the beach at Suffolk Park and walked in the sea. Returned to camp and checked whether Neolie wanted to go into Byron Bay. Turns out she'd enjoyed herself so much yesterday she wanted to chill out (i.e. she had a monster hangover).
So we drove into Byron Bay, parked the car and walked up the Tallow Ridge Track which had views over the 15km long Tallow Beach that runs from Cape Byron to Broken Head.
After a 1.5km walk we reached Cape Byron lighthouse.
Just beyond the lighthouse we reached the most easterly point of mainland Australia.
Steve descended the path to Little Wategos Beach (Karin was feeling lazy and stayed at the top). Steve then climbed onto Julian Rocks and watched several dolphins swimming in the sea nearby.
Walked back to the car, returned to Byron Bay by which time we were starving. We had fish and chips and calamari and chips and ate them sitting on the edge of the beach.
While we ate we watched the surfers catch wave after wave.
In the evening, we were invited to a proper Aussie barbie back at camp. It was a fab evening, with good food and great company.
